The Black Sparkle Pupa Emerger Fly is the result of closely observing hatching caddis flies in underwater environments. It is an unconventional but effective fish catcher. The antron case is supposed to imitate the gas bubbles used by hatching flies to propel them to the surface. Whether or not this is accurate trout seem to inhale this fly when caddis are hatching. It can be fished with a dead drift, twitched, or swung.

Flashback Caddis Pupa, Tan

Flashback Caddis Pupa, Tan

Your price: $1.85

The Tan Flashback Caddis Pupa is a Caddis pupal pattern designed to imitate the deep pupal stage of the caddis, with an impressionistic representation of the translucent air sac surrounding the insects body. The tan shade best represents the Hydropsyche Caddis species found most commonly in most Western waters. As Gary LaFontaine noted in his book Caddis Flies having a good deep pupal pattern to fish as along the bottom just before an evening caddis hatch can be the key to moving fish before they transition to the hatching insect. The Tan Flashback Caddis Pupa would be just such a pattern to have in your Caddis fly assortment.

Blood Midge

Blood Midge

Your price: $1.50

The Blood Midge Fly like many other species of midge species exhibits a red coloration in their larval stage. This fly is useful in both river and lake environments since midges are usually the most prolific insects available to trout. This fly can be fished in its larger sizes where chironomids are found or in any stream where midges are an important trout food. It excels in some of the larger tailwaters of the West like the Green, San Juan, and Big Horn.
