The fly is popular for big trout in Australia and New Zealand. The brilliantly colored fly doesn't appear very bright when it's submerged. The vivid orange and yellows of the fly become brown and the deeper you fish it, the browner it becomes. Although intended for large brown trout, and by the way it also works great for Great Lakes brown trout that move into the rivers, it also works great for steelhead. Over the last few years it has become a popular Great Lakes steelhead fly pattern. This is also a great fly in the steelhead streams of the West Coast. This fly should be fished on the swing. Although it may first appear to be a good off color water or high water fly, it also works great for low water conditions. We think this is because of the brownish tint it takes on when it's in the water.

Rainbow Warrior Tungsten BH Red

Rainbow Warrior Tungsten BH Red

Your price: $1.85

The Rainbow Warrior Tungsten Bead Head Red has become a top selling fly in our retail location and we are proud to offer it here. The thorax of this fly is rainbow dubbing which is a blend of different colors. We feel some of the reasons this fly is so productive is at least one of the colors will stand out in any fishing condition and the abdomen closely matches a midge pupa. The Rainbow Warrior works in almost any water but is hard to beat when fish are feeding on midges. This pattern works well in waters with sow bugs and will also work for a Mysis shrimp. The extra weight of the tungsten head makes this fly sink fast and makes this fly a great choice to trail off of a dry.
