Crayfish are an important food source and are found in many types of water. Though mostly used to catch Bass, Crayfish flies are effective for most freshwater species. Carp, Panfish, Bass, Trout and many others are frequently caught on crayfish patterns. The Rust Fighting Crawfish Ritt's Fly is one of the most realistic crayfish flies available. The foam claws are buoyant and make the fly stand up in the fighting position. This is what a live crawdad will do before a fish eats it. This pattern is great to use for sight fishing and most anglers fish it with a quick two or three strip retrieve then allow it to settle back to the bottom.

Green Drake, Trout Slayer

Green Drake, Trout Slayer

Your price: $1.50

These large insects are "trout candy" on our western streams - Green Drakes are large insects and evidently taste really good to trout. This pattern was custom designed by our RiverBum staff. and is the most effective pattern we have used to date. When Green Drakes hatch in good numbers the trout forget all other foods and target drakes only. In the Pacific Northwest region, look for them toward the end of the giant stonefly hatches; May & June on most rivers, but some spring creeks such as Oregon's Metolius River has strong late summer hatches as well.

Humpy, Red

Humpy, Red

Your price: $1.50

Sometimes known by older fly anglers as a 'goofus bug' the Red Humpy is no doubt one of the finest of dry flies around. This fly fishing classic is very buoyant, colorful, and has the profile matching a variety of insects. The Humpy dry fly is a useful attractor pattern and seems to work exceptionally well for brook trout and grayling. This has the same hackle as the Humpy, Yellow.
